On October 8th, a fishing pole was stolen from a residence in Mulberry, and it was captured on security video. The Polk County Sheriff's Office has obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect.
When the victim discovered the pole was missing from her front porch, she reviewed her security video and saw the theft occur. She did not recognize the suspect though.
The deputy assigned to the case recognized the suspect and got confirmation from someone else that it was Billie Ray Risco.
A relative of Billie Ray spoke with him by phone and he told the relative that he had just dropped the fishing pole off at the Mulberry Substation.
The pole was there, but video showed it was not dropped off by Billie Ray. It was dropped off by a friend of his.
The deputy spoke with that friend who said that he dropped off the fishing pole because Billie Ray was scared.
The PCSO is pleased that Billie Ray returned the stolen fishing pole, but that doesn't excuse him for what he has done, and he needs to turn himself in. He is wanted for Occupied Burglary and Grand Theft.
Billie Ray's prior criminal history includes charges for: Aggravated Battery, Battery (3 Counts), Hit & Run, Criminal Mischief, Theft, Failure to Appear, and Probation Violation (3 counts).
