The Polk County Sheriff''s Office is investigating a porch pirate theft in the Highland City area, and second incident that occurred not too far away.
The theft occurred in the Highlands Grace neighborhood (off of 540A) south of Lakeland, on October 14th at about 12:10 pm, about one hour after the package was delivered.
The suspect was in a black 4-door vehicle (unknown what type at this time). He casually walked up to the front door, took the package, and drove away.
Two days later, the PCSO became aware of another porch pirate theft that occurred on Dovehollow Drive (Lakeland) back on October 5th. In this theft, the suspect took an item that was meant to be a birthday gift.
The two crimes occurred about a mile and a half apart and could possibly be related.
