Any idea who this woman might be? The Polk County Sheriff's Office would like to know.

The woman played a damsel in distress on Monday, January 6th. She approached our victim, telling her that she was from out of town and she needed to cash a money order so she would have money to purchase a bus ticket back home. She added that her ID and debit card was recently stolen, so she was unable to cash the money order herself. A good story, but it was just as bogus as the money order was.

Wanting to help the woman, our victim deposited the bogus money order into her own account via an ATM at TD Bank on Hwy 98 North in Lakeland took out $300, and handed the money over to the suspect.

When our victim returned home and checked her account online, she realized that the $300 came directly from her account.

If you recognize this woman or have any information helpful to this investigation, please contact Detective Ryan at 863-577-1629, or if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Heartland Crime Stoppers - call 1-800-226 TIPS (8477), visit the website www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com and click on "Submit A Tip," or download the free "P3tips" app on your smartphone or tablet. You will always remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest. Your information will be forwarded to law enforcement for follow up. If an arrest is made based on your tip, you are eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.Scammer pictures
