Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking the public's help in an armed business robbery that occurred at the Advance America located at 11521 South Combee Road in Lakeland.
At approximately 6:52 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, the first suspect entered the business and inquired about direct deposits. The clerk informed the suspect that the store does not offer that service, and the suspect appeared as if to leave. The suspect in fact was pushing the door open to allow the second suspect, who was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, inside.
Both suspects then approached the clerk and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, and both suspects fled the scene. They were spotted running down Crystal Lake Drive South to an area west of Arthur Blvd, where they entered a sedan, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria or a Mercury Grand Marquis.
The suspects left behind a white bag. Video surveillance photos of the suspects and the car can be seen here.
