CRIME: HIT AND RUN FATALITY
CRIME SCENE: 10TH STREET NORTH IN LAKELAND
POLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE CASE #24-012386

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run fatality that occurred in Lakeland on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Around 9:43 p.m. that evening, deputies responded to 10th Street North just east of Wabash Avenue, where a 58 year old man visiting family from Alabama had been struck by a vehicle - the driver of the vehicle fled. The victim died at the scene. His family was notified.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2010-2014 silver Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country van. It would have been traveling east on 10th Street when it struck the victim from behind as he was standing or walking alongside the road.
