A retail theft occurred on March 28th at about 1:30 am at the 7-Eleven (1011 Hwy 540A East) in Lakeland.
An unknown white male walked into the convenience store and picked up two one-pint containers of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and two 1-quart containers of chocolate milk, then just walked out without paying for it.
The clerk called out to the man who rudely replied, “I paid for my (expletive), (racial epithet)!” But he did not pay for it. He stole it. Therein lies the problem.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is hoping someone will recognize the man from the accompanying photos. The man might reside in the community of Highland Station, which is next door to the store. This was the area where the suspect was last seen walking toward.
If you do recognize him, or have any information that might be helpful to this investigation, please contact Detective Ervin at 863-499-2400 (reference case #20-14363), or to remain anonymous, contact Heartland Crime Stoppers - call 1-800-226 TIPS (8477), visit www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com and click on "Submit A Tip," or download the free "P3tips" app on your smartphone or tablet.
